Jennifer Teichman Kerr was born in Lexington, Missouri, and she was in the 6th generation to grow up on her family’s farm in rural Lafayette County. She graduated valedictorian from Lexington High School and went on to earn a B.A. in English and in history and an M.A. in history from the University of Central Missouri and spent a semester studying in London. She also earned a gemology degree and worked for a time in the jewelry industry.
Jennifer earned a Ph.D. in European history from the University of Missouri. She taught European history for Columbia College for 18 years. Jennifer went on to earn a law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and now practices law in Lexington. She has served as president of the Lafayette County Bar Association and is active in her community. Jennifer served alongside George Hittner as co-counsel and filed lawsuits on behalf of the Alumni Association and the WMA Museum to obtain the Doughboy, the chapel stained-glass, and hundreds of thousands of artifacts from Wentworth.
Jennifer serves as Secretary for the Wentworth Military Academy Museum as well as the Board of Trustees for the State Historical Society of Missouri. Jennifer has been married to Jerr Kerr for 17 years, and the two of them reside on the outskirts of Lexington.
